Help!??

So I am getting ready to paint my living/dining/kitchen area in another week or so. No, I don't need help with the paint color (well, I do, but that could go horribly wrong using photos!). I think I have decided on a color (marked in one of the photos).

What I need HELP with, it deciding if my "blanket rack" looks silly. I have had a mental picture for about two months now of what it would look like if I hung my blankets on the wall. It did not turn out exactly like my mental picture, and I am not sure that I like it. I don't know if it is the concept, the hooks, or the blankets.

I think I like the idea of having my blankets hung up as right now I have them folded on part of the sectional we rarely use or throw them in a closet when people come. However, not sure if the execution is right just yet (I have the blankets hung that we mostly use in the living room - the outside ones are made for me by my grandmothers and the middle is a cheap, store bought one that I got years ago before I began quilting - so maybe it is the blanket choices?)

What do you think? Does it look nice enough to keep? Keep in mind that the blotching paint will be fixed soon - I figured I should try this out BEFORE the room is painted as I will have to fill in all the holes anyway - and this way if I don't like it I won't have to re-pain to touch up.

I have them hung on a partial wall. To the Right of it is the cabinet that is tucked in a small corner and to the left is about 4" of knee wall (over looks the basement stairs) and just further to the left of that is a huge opening to the dinning/kitchen areas.

Thanks for the help!

Ahhhh, no work space

SO..... I have been crafting in the "cave" that is our basement for the past year or so. It is a huge space that is so unfinished that there is literally 1 outlet that I have using for everything. This was great for my sewing table, lamp, iron/ironing board, storage space galore including having a full-size ping pong table as my gigantic work table.

I have wanted a restroom, Many more outlets, better lighting and, well, some walls for awhile now. And so it begins! We are going to do this in small stages, but the first stage - framing begins THIS week! I have to go clean up my workspace now so he can get started. (and when I say clean, I mean clear out). I will have to pack it up for the next week or so until all the framing, dust, and such settles.

Before pics - these are pics from when we first moved in so while the base looks the same, I have at least arranged the furniture and such by now.

What will be the bathroom area

This section (the foreground) will be my sewing area and the section in the back - with the storage racks will be walled off storage for all our crap.

Standing in what will be sewing, looking at the living/bar area.

While it will drive me nut a to have it all packed away, can't wait for this to get underway!

New to this blog thing

So I have been searching blogs for cute ideas and projects for a few months now. I love the idea of posting my projects, cute ideas that I think of, and getting feedback from others. I figured I would give it a shot and see what happens.

So more about me...
I am in education and love teaching. I teach at a college and will likely sometimes post funnies from them. I love reading - well, what I call reading - I listen to audiobooks so that I can multi-task; so while mostly this blog will be geared towards my stress relief of craftiness, I cannot help but yell from the mountain tops when I read a good or especially bad book. I came up with the sew sane Jane name (I know-my lack of creativity is why I need to look up blogs to get ideas for crafty projects) as sewing has become my major stress reliever over the past year. Not that sewing doesn't stress me from time to time, it is just nice not to think of my daily life stressors for the hour or so that I become engrossed in a project.

Hope you enjoy and aren't too bored. Happy reading.
